Patrick “Trey” Carter, III, a proud native of Memphis, Tennessee, exemplifies leadership as a second- generation entrepreneur, business innovator, and community advocate. A 2001 graduate of White Station High School, Trey earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Florida A&M University (FAMU) in 2006. Trey remains deeply connected to his alma mater, contributing to initiatives such as the upgrade of the stock exchange facilities in the Mobley School of Business & Industry Building.

As the President and Founder of Olympic Career Training Institute (OCTI), Trey has dedicated his career to empowering individuals through logistics, distribution, transportation and manufacturing training.

Headquartered in Memphis, OCTI is certified by the Department of Labor, Veteran Affairs Administration, and Tennessee Higher Education Commission. Since its establishment in 2010, OCTI has trained over 15,000 students, creating opportunities for forklift operators, warehouse specialists, and commercial truck drivers. These efforts have contributed more than $300 million annually in new wages to the Greater Memphis economy.

Trey’s impact extends far beyond his role as a business leader. In 2015, he launched the Young Moguls Program in partnership with the City of Memphis Office of Youth Services. The initiative provides paid summer training for over 200 youth, ages 14-15, focusing on entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and life skills. Trey believes in exposing young people to diverse career paths, helping them build a foundation for long-term success.

Committed to uplifting his community, Trey founded the New Start Foundation in 2019. Through its mission of fostering economic growth in underserved areas, the New Start Foundation has provided technical assistance, loans, and grants to help 57 individuals secure careers earning $50,000 or more annually.

Trey has received numerous accolades, including being named Game Changer of the Year by the Building Blocks Mentoring Program (2015), Top 40 Under 40 in Memphis (2016), and one of the Top 35 Influencers in the U.S. by the Next Big Thing organization (2017). He has also been featured multiple times in the Memphis Business Journal's Book of Lists as a Top Minority Business Leader. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Trey is an active contributor to civic and community organizations. He currently serves in leadership roles including:
